The story
On Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, Angelini Osteria has been a destination for authentic Italian cuisine since 2001. Chef Gino Angelini and his wife Elizabeth built the restaurant around the kind of cooking Gino grew up with in San Clemente, Emilia-Romagna—simple, country meals made with care. The restaurant quickly became known for introducing Los Angeles to dishes like Tagliolini al Limone, Linguine Sea Urchin, and Spaghetti Norcina, and has earned a loyal following for its warm, intimate setting and unassuming hospitality.
Gino Angelini’s path to this kitchen started early. By age 14, he had decided to devote his life to food, eventually becoming the youngest chef in top hotels and restaurants in his region. He co-founded a popular Italian gourmet magazine, served as President of the Association of Chefs Romagnoli, and was appointed Italian Vice Commissioner of Euro-Toques International. After bringing his talents to Los Angeles in 1995 as chef of Rex Il Ristorante, he opened Angelini Osteria in 2001. The restaurant has since been praised consistently as “the best Italian chef in Los Angeles” and earned a Michelin Recommended recognition, a nod to its enduring quality.
The menu reflects Gino’s Emilia-Romagna roots and his commitment to authentic Italian flavors. Antipasti include a warm Swordfish Carpaccio with pistachios and bottarga, and an Ahi Tuna Tartar with grilled crostino. Pastas are made in-house, from the bright Tagliolini Limone to the rich Spaghetti Chitarra alla Norcina with black truffles and sausage. Secondi range from a simply grilled Branzino Filet to a Veal Chop alla Milanese. The wood-burning pizza oven turns out pies like the Pizza Bianca with prosciutto di Parma and arugula. Desserts stay classic with Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, and a gluten-free Chocolate Caprese.
The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming, with outdoor seating and a private room available for gatherings. An interesting wine list and valet parking add to the ease of the experience. Whether for a daily lunch or a dinner that lingers, Angelini Osteria remains a place where the food speaks for itself.
