The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has kept the flames of the churrasco tradition burning. The founding brothers grew up on a traditional Southern Brazilian farm in the Serra Gaucha, where they learned to cook in the churrasco grilling style that remains the backbone of the restaurant. After training as formal churrasqueiros in Rio and São Paulo, they built their first restaurant in Porto Alegre, a wood structure that quickly gained a reputation among politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. The Los Angeles location on South Figueroa brings that same dedication to quality and heritage to the heart of downtown.
The restaurant offers a Fogo Four Course menu for a limited time, featuring a selection of fire-roasted cuts, a seasonal Market Table, and authentic sides, followed by a choice of dessert. Beyond the main dining experience, Bar Fogo serves Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails. The wine program has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and a signature house collection—the Founders Tribute Wine Collection—includes labels like Jorjão Reserva Malbec and Eulila Red Blend, curated to pair with specific cuts such as the Picanha (Prime Part of the Top Sirloin) and Lamb Picanha.
At 800 S Figueroa Street, the restaurant balances the energy of downtown Los Angeles with the warmth of Southern Brazilian hospitality. The full churrasco experience means guests choose their preferred cuts from gaucho chefs who carve tableside, while the Market Table offers fresh, vibrant sides. For those seeking a deeper connection to the culture, the space accommodates group dining, private parties, and catering. The restaurant also participates in exclusive chef-curated wine dinners, such as the VIK Wine Dinner pairing world-class South American wines with Wagyu New York Strip and Beef Ancho Bone-in Ribeye.
