The story
In East Hollywood, a small jewel box of a restaurant channels the spirit of a New England blue-collar oyster bar. Found Oyster takes its inspiration straight from the coast, with oysters sourced from general manager Joe Laraja’s family farm in Orleans, Massachusetts, and a menu that lets seafood speak for itself.
The space is compact and welcoming, with a raw bar that anchors the experience. Oysters are the foundation—served daily, alongside littleneck clams dressed with ponzu, peel-and-eat prawns with special sauce, and a Sicilian crudo bright with lemon, caper, and red onion. The menu also offers a New England-style chowder (“chowdaaa” with bacon), a fried cod sandwich with tartar sauce and frites, and a lobster bisque roll with serrano chili. Larger platters like the Baywatch and Overboard combine oysters, prawns, crudo, and crab cocktail.
The drink list pairs Champagne and Coors alike with the seafood, and the atmosphere is casual enough that walk-ins are always welcomed. Found Oyster has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to its focused, unpretentious approach to seafood.
It’s a place that feels both specific and generous: East Coast traditions refracted through a West Coast lens, served in a room where the only thing that matters is what’s on the plate.
