The story
Since the late 1970s, Jitlada has been a beloved destination on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. In 2006, chefs Sarintip “Jazz” Singsanong and Suthiporn “Tui” Sungkamee took ownership, bringing their culinary expertise from the Nakhon Si Thammarat region of Southern Thailand. They have transformed the restaurant into a living expression of Southern Thai cuisine, where every dish is cooked with intention, intensity, and heart.
The menu is extensive, capturing the essence of their cultural heritage. It emphasizes the bold and distinct flavors of Southern Thai cuisine alongside timeless classics. The restaurant describes its food as “not softened to fit trends; it’s cooked the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.” This uncompromising approach draws diners seeking dishes rarely found outside of Thailand, all grounded in the energy of Los Angeles.
Jitlada’s commitment to authentic Thai cuisine has earned significant recognition. The restaurant has been honored by the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand award. Additionally, Chef Jazz Singsanong has been nominated by the James Beard Foundation for the esteemed Best Chef in California award. These accolades reflect the deep respect for tradition and the daily hands-on cooking that define the kitchen. For a genuine and memorable Thai experience, Jitlada remains a vital part of the Los Angeles dining scene.
