The story
The story of Fogo de Chão begins in the mountainous countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, where the founding brothers grew up on a traditional farm. There, they learned the churrasco grilling method that would become the backbone of their life’s work. After formal training in Rio and São Paulo, they opened their first restaurant in Porto Alegre—a wood structure built from an obsessive dedication to quality and respect for family heritage. That single churrascaria soon attracted politicians, businessmen, and celebrities from across Brazil, leading to a second location in São Paulo and, eventually, an expansion to the United States.
At the Miami Beach location on 1st Street, the same culinary art of churrasco is kept burning. The experience centers on fire-roasted meats, carved tableside by gaucho chefs. The signature cut is picanha—the prime part of the top sirloin, lightly seasoned with rock salt and sliced thin. Other standout cuts include the bone-in ribeye ancho, the bacon-wrapped medalhões com bacon, and the slow-grilled costela (beef ribs). For those seeking something exceptional, enhancements like a 42-day dry-aged Tomahawk Ancho or a Wagyu Porterhouse are available. The menu also features a freshly curated Market Table, seasonal sides, and Bar Fogo cocktails.
Fogo de Chão’s commitment to quality extends beyond the grill. The restaurant’s wine program has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, reflecting a carefully selected list that pairs naturally with the robust flavors of Brazilian steakhouse cuisine. Whether you choose a Napa Cabernet or a Chilean favorite, the wines are chosen to complement the meats and the vibrant energy of the dining room.
The Miami Beach outpost offers fine dining with table service, outdoor seating, and private rooms for large groups. The atmosphere is warm and lively, inviting guests to create their own plate from the continuous parade of carved meats, Market Table selections, and authentic Brazilian sides. It’s a place where the tradition of churrasco—rooted in the landscapes of Southern Brazil—finds a home on the coast of Florida.
