The story
Founded by Anastasia Koutsioukis and Ahmet Erkaya, Mandolin Aegean Bistro opened its doors in December 2009. Housed in a restored 1940s home, the restaurant is known for its lush garden and inviting patio—one of Miami's most notable outdoor dining spaces. As you pass through the blue gates and beneath the bougainvillea, the atmosphere transports you to the tavernas of the Aegean coast, where the Greek Islands meet the Turkish coast.
Mandolin's culinary team interprets traditional recipes with a focus on seasonality and local ingredients, using Aegean techniques. The menu is built around the flavors of the coastal towns that unite Greece and Turkey. The kitchen prides itself on consistency and quality, recreating traditional recipes while respecting the freshness of the region's produce. The menu features mezes like grilled octopus, baked feta with heirloom tomatoes, and köfte (grilled sirloin meatballs). Mains include whole Mediterranean sea bass grilled with olive oil, lemon, and oregano, lamb chops over orzo pilaf, and manti dumplings with minced beef, garlic yogurt, and aleppo pepper. The restaurant's dedication to authentic, seasonal cooking earned it a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide Miami—a recognition of good quality, good value cooking.
Mandolin describes itself as more than a restaurant—it's a way of life. The team emphasizes generosity of spirit, true hospitality, and the feeling of coming home. For the local Miami community and international travelers alike, it has become a home away from home. The bistro also offers catering, private parties, and events, extending its warm, genuine Mediterranean hospitality beyond the dining room. With its focus on simplicity, authenticity, and quality, Mandolin Aegean Bistro remains a cornerstone of Miami's Mediterranean and Turkish dining scene.
