The story
Set on the shore of Lake Michigan in downtown Milwaukee, Harbor House is a bright, spacious New England-style seafood restaurant. The restaurant offers a premier lakefront dining experience, with the freshest seafood flown in daily from both coasts. The interior features a three-sided bar, a raw bar, and an open kitchen. A seasonal outdoor patio, open between Memorial Day and Labor Day, includes a full bar, Adirondack chairs, and unparalleled views of the lake, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and the city's skyline.
Harbor House specializes in oysters, selling more than 10,000 each month and offering a different variety each day depending on what is available and fresh. The menu extends beyond seafood to include steak, pasta, sandwiches, salads, and a signature hamburger. Sunday brunch features raw bar offerings, salads, desserts, and both breakfast and lunch entrée options. The restaurant has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence annually since 2017, reflecting a carefully curated wine selection designed to complement the menu.
Executive Chef Michael Genre leads the kitchen, a veteran of The Bartolotta Restaurants who began his career with the group in 2011 and was promoted to his current role in 2022. Chef de Cuisine Martin Delgadillo works alongside him. The dinner menu includes starters such as Maryland Blue Crab Cake and Canadian Black Bear Bay Mussels, along with fish dishes like Miso Glazed Atlantic Salmon and Poached Wild-Caught Alaskan Halibut. Steak options include Pan-Seared Center-Cut Angus Filet Mignon and a Pan-Seared Angus Boneless Ribeye. A three-course Sunday brunch is also served.
The dining room offers a refined atmosphere, with a dress code that encourages polished, sophisticated attire. Private dining is available for corporate events, wedding dinners, and other special occasions, with a dedicated event planning team.
