The story
On San Carlos Street in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Stationæry positions itself as the neighborhood restaurant you actually want to walk into. The kitchen celebrates comforting flavors with elegant presentation, serving American and Californian cuisine that shifts from all-day brunch to a more composed dinner menu Thursday through Saturday.
The space is small and intentional, available for intimate private events. A take-away window lets you grab wine, coffee beans, or a quick bite without sitting down. The vibe is relaxed but polished—the kind of place where a Dutch baby with passion fruit curd and matcha sits alongside a Sausage Bánh Mì with sambal mayo and a sunny egg.
Brunch runs daily from 8am to 3pm. Plates range from a straightforward Breakfast Plate with Baker’s bacon and a buttermilk biscuit to more indulgent options like Caviar & Chips with Tsar Nicolai caviar. Dinner brings out a 13 oz Ribeye with broccoli di ciccio and Calabrian chili, Spaghetti Chitarra with Dungeness crab, and a Grilled Swordfish with peperonata. The burger—cheddar, French dressing, caramelized onions on brioche—appears on both menus.
The beverage program leans into unexpected wines. Stationæry runs its own wine club, The Wine List, where owners Anthony and Alissa share approachable, non-sommelier perspectives on the bottles they love. The cocktail list includes a Coconut Ginger Margarita made with Ola Sol agave wine and a Bloody Mary built on Junmai Genshu sake.
Stationæry has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a nod to its consistent, thoughtful cooking and the warmth of its hospitality. It’s a restaurant that knows exactly what it is: a comfortable, well-run spot where the food and wine feel both considered and genuinely welcoming.
