The story
In Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood, Bastion offers two distinct experiences under one roof. There’s a casual cocktail bar open to the public, and a 24-seat restaurant that requires reservations. Chef Josh Habiger leads the kitchen, and the team’s commitment to refined, contemporary cooking earned Bastion a Michelin One Star in 2026.
The dining room is small and focused – just two dozen seats, with service Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9:00 pm. Reservations are required and open on the first of each month for the following month. This is a space built around precision and attention, where the contemporary menu changes with the seasons. The Michelin inspectors recognized the high quality of cooking here, and the restaurant’s intimate scale means every guest receives careful, personal attention.
On the other side, Big Bar is a lively, walk-in cocktail lounge. It operates Sunday through Thursday from 5 pm to midnight, and until 1 am on Friday and Saturday. The bar menu runs deep, with a rotating list of inventive cocktails ($15 each), a Punch of the Day, Old Fashioneds, and Bucks. There’s also a solid selection of beers, non-alcoholic options, and an extensive spirits list. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday from 5 to 7 pm. Nachos are available until 11 pm on weeknights and midnight on weekends.
Bastion sits on Houston Street, a short walk from the city’s creative core. The restaurant’s contemporary approach to cuisine and cocktails reflects the energy of Nashville’s evolving food scene. Whether you’re here for a full tasting menu or a single drink at the bar, the experience is grounded in genuine hospitality and a love for what they do.
