The story
In 1975, Win and Patti Myint opened International Market & Restaurant on Belmont Boulevard, introducing Nashvillians to their first taste of legit Thai cuisine for nearly 45 years. In September 2021, their children, Anna and Arnold Myint, soft-opened International Market 2.0 (IM2) just across the street at 2013 Belmont Blvd. The sibling duo runs a space that honors the past while moving forward: lunch continues Patti’s cafeteria-style steam table with made-to-order options, while dinner transforms into a full-service experience.
Chef Arnold Myint, a 2024 James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef Southeast, brings a regionally conscious approach to modern Thai cooking. He previously competed on “Top Chef” and “Food Network Star,” and his new cookbook, Family Thai, celebrates his family’s culinary heritage. At dinner, his menu balances classic Thai flavors with local sourcing—think applewood-smoked duck in Spicy Basil Duck Lo Mein, or Three Taste Shrimp with tamarind and makrut lime. The kitchen sources from farms like Sequatchie Cove and Miller’s Amish Farm, supporting a network of local producers.
International Market is the first restaurant in Nashville to receive the Thai Select Classic Award from Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce and Royal Thai Government, a seal of approval for authentic Thai cuisine. In 2025, IM2 earned a place in the MICHELIN Guide’s inaugural America South Recommended list, cementing its status as a destination for serious Asian fusion and Thai cuisine in the city. The restaurant continues to serve the community through initiatives like weekly meals for Nashville Launch Pad, which supports LGBTQ+ youth.
