The story
Cochon Butcher is a tribute to the Old-World butcher and charcuterie shops that once defined neighborhood dining. Here, five full-time butchers craft over 2,000 pounds of cured meats, sausages, and fresh cuts every week. That house-made meat goes straight onto the menu – into specialty sandwiches, small plates, and daily lunch and dinner specials. The commitment to quality and value has earned Cochon Butcher a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition that celebrates good cooking at an accessible price.
The deli’s approach to American cuisine is grounded in craft. Every ingredient is considered: fresh produce, eggs, and dairy come directly from local farmers, sourced by a dedicated forager. The bread is baked daily at sister restaurant La Boulangerie. Even the condiments – pickles, jellies, jams, mustards, and sauces – are made in-house. The result is a sandwich that tastes of real, thoughtful preparation.
Beyond the counter, a meat retail section sells fresh cuts and ready-to-cook items. For larger gatherings, catering platters feature house-made charcuterie, sausage, cheese, gumbo, and seasonal offerings. The drink list leans local, with craft beers from New Orleans breweries and a curated selection of wines and cocktails.
The atmosphere is casual and walk-in only – no reservations needed for lunch or dinner. It’s the kind of place where you order at the counter, grab a seat, and watch the butchers work behind the glass. Cochon Butcher brings the deli tradition into the present, one house-made sausage at a time.
