The story
Cosme is Enrique Olvera’s restaurant in New York City’s Flatiron District. The kitchen serves contemporary cuisine rooted in Mexican flavors and traditions while celebrating local and seasonal ingredients. This approach, which has earned the restaurant a Michelin recommendation, translates into dishes that feel both grounded and surprising.
The team is led by Chef Founder Enrique Olvera, Cuisine Chef Gustavo Garnica, and Pastry Chef Eva Ramirez. Their beverage program mirrors the food, focusing on artisanal spirits and high quality ingredients sourced from Mexican culture.
The menu reads like a conversation between tradition and the present. Starters include a Maine uni tostada with salsa mexicana, bone marrow, and avocado, or an Icelandic arctic char everything bagel tostada. Larger plates range from grilled Atlantic scallops al pastor to a Pekin duck carnitas dish served with radishes, onion, and cilantro — meant for sharing. The Omaha Angus strip steak with black garlic and chile is another shareable option.
Desserts from Pastry Chef Eva Ramirez include a pecan tamal, chocolate mousse cake, and a corn husk meringue. The cocktail list features classics and originals like the Tlāloc Old Fashioned, made with duck carnitas reduction, maple, and bitters.
Cosme takes pride in the small details, from ingredient sourcing to the last goodbye. The private dining room, located towards the back, offers an intimate setting for up to 14 guests. A family-style set menu ensures a seamless experience for larger parties. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and has air conditioning.
