The story
Since 2000, Dim Sum Go Go has been a fixture of Chinatown in New York City, earning a reputation as one of the city’s best spots for made-to-order dim sum. Located at 5 E. Broadway, this bright, contemporary restaurant has drawn a loyal following for its fresh, handmade dumplings and Cantonese fare. The Michelin Guide has awarded it a Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking, and inspectors note that the food here is as good as what you’ll find in far-flung Queens—with the added benefit that they take reservations.
Unlike the traditional cart service, dim sum orders are taken by the staff, which helps ensure everything arrives at your table exceptionally fresh. The menu is extensive, with a strong emphasis on handmade dumplings wrapped in crystal skins, from shrimp dumplings to snow pea leaf dumplings spiked with ginger and garlic. Roast duck dumplings and the flaky baked roast pork pie are standouts, alongside steamed rice rolls and plump shui mai topped with tobiko.
The kitchen also offers a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dim sum, including the Three Star Dumplings filled with lotus root, jicama, and cabbage, and the Snow Pea Leaf Dumplings. For those who want to sample a range, the Seafood/Meat Dim Sum Platter and the Vegetarian Dim Sum Platter each feature ten different dumpling varieties.
The atmosphere is straightforward and welcoming, with two floors of dining space. For parties of five or more, reservations are accepted by phone. Open daily from 11am to 9pm, Dim Sum Go Go serves lunch, dinner, and offers delivery and takeout. Whether you’re a dim sum devotee or new to Chinese cuisine, this Chinatown mainstay delivers consistent, satisfying cooking that has earned its place on the Michelin map.
