Loring Place

In the heart of Greenwich Village, Loring Place is chef Dan Kluger’s personal celebration of New York and all things local. The restaurant takes its name from the Bronx street where Kluger’s father grew up, and that sense of place runs through every detail—from the market-driven menu to the warm, convivial atmosphere.

Kluger is best known for leading the kitchens at ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina, where he earned a James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant. At Loring Place, he draws on more than twenty years of frequenting the Union Square Greenmarket, building relationships with farmers that inform his cooking. The result is an American menu that changes with the seasons, built for sharing: small plates like wood-grilled broccoli salad with orange, pistachios, and mint, or baked ricotta with pistachio-ramp pesto and fava beans; large plates such as roasted short rib with potato purée and horseradish gremolata, or grilled arctic char with asparagus and oyster mushrooms. A wood-burning grill and oven fill the room with the smell of burning wood, giving vegetables and meats a smoky char, while whole wheat pizzas—including a grandma-style pie with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil—crisp alongside.

The interior, designed by Craig Shillitto of Cycle Projects, occupies an 1848 building and blends original brick, gray-stained oak floors, and black steel with glass. The bar and wine program, led by Stuart Williams, features seasonal cocktails that mirror the kitchen’s greenmarket ethos, alongside a curated wine list and artisanal beers.

Loring Place has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a fitting nod to the precision and care behind Kluger’s cooking. The restaurant also offers indoor and outdoor seating, pickup, and delivery, and hosts private events and catering. It remains a neighborhood fixture that feels both polished and genuinely welcoming—a place where the energy of 8th Street feeds the dining room, and every plate reflects the chef’s long-standing commitment to local ingredients and bold, balanced flavors.
