The story
Since opening in 2013, The Musket Room has become a cornerstone of downtown Manhattan’s dining scene. Tucked away on Elizabeth Street, the restaurant brings together a thoughtful approach to cooking and hospitality, shaped by the diverse backgrounds and travels of the team behind it. The space itself mirrors that balance: intimate nooks for quiet dinners, a long cocktail bar for a drink before the meal, and a lush outdoor garden that feels like a neighborhood secret. The restaurant has held a Michelin star for a decade, a testament to the consistent, personal food that comes out of the kitchen.
Executive Chef Mary Attea leads the kitchen alongside Chef de Cuisine Noah Ponjuan, whose Louisiana roots bring bold flavor and technique to the seasonal direction of the menu. Executive Pastry Chef Onika Brown adds her playful touch to bread service and desserts. Together, they create a globally inspired menu that draws on influences from wherever the team’s curiosity leads.
The Musket Room offers a chef’s prix fixe menu and a selection of à la carte dishes that rotate with the seasons. Expect dishes that highlight produce and technique—such as Cornbread with black truffle and soured honey, Oysters Three Ways (raw, fried croquette, and chargrilled with beurre de Créole), or a Wagyu striploin with soubise and potato. The Chef’s Choice menu lets the team cook what excites them most that night, with optional wine and spirit-free pairings. The cocktail program is equally considered, with drinks like the Negroni con Caffeina and the Strawberry Upside Down, along with a thoughtful selection of non-alcoholic options.
The restaurant is the first from Elizabeth Street Hospitality, the group founded by sisters Jennifer and Nicole Vitagliano. The team is focused on supporting a sustainable ecosystem that highlights producers and farmers whose practices align with theirs, partnering with organizations like Girls Club, Hot Bread Kitchen, and the James Beard Foundation.
