The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has kept the flames of the churrasco tradition burning. The founders, who grew up on a family farm in the mountainous Serra Gaúcha region, learned to cook meat over open fire in the gaucho style. After formal training in Rio and São Paulo, they opened their first restaurant in Porto Alegre, building a reputation that drew politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. That dedication to quality and heritage eventually spread to the United States, with a stateside debut in Dallas and a flagship in New York City. Today, the Reston location offers the same experience.
The heart of the meal is the rodízio-style service: gaucho chefs carve fire-roasted cuts tableside—Picanha (prime top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), lamb chops, and Wagyu New York strip, among others. Alongside the meats, the Market Table provides a vibrant selection of fresh vegetables, salads, and Brazilian-inspired sides. Bar Fogo offers small plates, craft cocktails, and an award-winning wine list.
Fogo de Chão’s wine program has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023, a nod to the carefully curated selection of South American and international bottles. The Founders Tribute Wine Collection, including a Malbec from Mendoza and a Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley, is designed to pair with specific cuts—like the Picanha or the bone-in ribeye.
The atmosphere is refined yet welcoming, with a focus on the fire and the interaction at the table. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply craving a classic Brazilian steakhouse experience, the Reston restaurant delivers a meal that stays true to its roots.
