The story
Led by chef Brad Cecchi, Canon is a chef-driven neighborhood restaurant in Sacramento built around the idea of sharing. The menu changes with the seasons, offering contemporary cuisine designed for the table, not just the plate. The space itself — deep tones against bright whites, with a covered outdoor patio — feels both polished and relaxed, a place where the kitchen’s ambition doesn’t outpace the warmth of the welcome.
The Michelin Guide has recognized Canon with a Bib Gourmand every year since 2019, an honor reserved for restaurants that deliver good quality at a good value. In 2025, the restaurant earned its sixth consecutive award, a testament to the consistency of chef Cecchi’s vision and the strength of his team.
The menu is built around small plates meant to be passed and shared. Quick bites range from oysters with estate vinegars to crispy Brussels sprouts with kimchi vinaigrette, while larger options lean into family-style fare. Desserts are equally collaborative — a buttermilk panna cotta with lemon curd and berries, or a koginut hand pie with pomegranate and fall-spiced ice cream — each paired with a suggested wine or spirit.
The bar, led by Vince Andreoni, turns out creative seasonal cocktails alongside a thoughtful wine list that spans sparkling, white, rosé, and red selections from California and beyond. The cocktail program is as playful as the food, with drinks like the tropical, tingling Speedovic or the savory, stirred Hail Mary.
Canon is open seven days a week from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with seating available indoors and on the covered patio. Reservations are accepted and recommended — the house is packed most nights.
