The story
Flores is a San Francisco Mexican restaurant rooted in family recipes that originated in Mexican states from the Gulf to the Pacific. The kitchen draws on these passed-down dishes to create a menu that honors tradition while feeling contemporary. Since 2021, the restaurant has been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand each year—a mark of good quality, good value cooking that reflects the team’s dedication to excellence.
Masa is the star ingredient. Flores makes its corn tortillas by hand daily from fresh masa, and these tortillas appear across the menu—in tacos, enchiladas, and alongside dishes like flautas de chorizo con papas and sopes de frijoles. The menu is built for sharing: guacamole, queso fundido, ceviche mixto, and tostadas are joined by salads, soups, and heartier plates such as chile relleno and pozole verde. The cooking is direct, rooted in technique passed down through generations.
The bar program gives equal weight to craft cocktails and traditional Mexican drinks. Tequila and mezcal flights are a specialty, and the margaritas are made in-house. The atmosphere is warm and modern, with outdoor seating and a design that feels both familiar and fresh. It’s a place where the food and drink are taken seriously, but the welcome is genuine.
