The story
In San Francisco’s North Beach, Hilda and Jesse brings a distinctly personal vision to the table. This queer-owned restaurant is the work of Chef Ollie K.C. Liedags and co-owner Rachel Sillcocks, who together have created a space they describe as “modern #funluxury.” Their approach is playful but precise, offering an innovative and intentional menu that draws on a wide range of inspirations.
The restaurant began as a series of Brunch for Dinner pop-ups, and that spirit of rethinking conventions still drives the kitchen. Today, the menu at Hilda and Jesse is built around sweet and savory twists on classic dishes, made with impeccably sourced ingredients and fine dining technique. For dinner, served Monday, Thursday, and Friday, guests experience the Chef’s Adventure Menu ($98), a tasting format that showcases what Chef Ollie is most excited to share. Add-ons are available, but a la carte is not offered during dinner service. Brunch, offered Saturday and Sunday, is more flexible: a $49 three-course set menu, the full Chef’s Adventure Menu, and a la carte options are all available. The team welcomes custom requests and accommodations for allergies or preferences.
The beverage program, led by wine director James Butler, is dedicated to sparkling wines. The cocktail menu—now created by Chef Ollie—offers low-ABV creations alongside classics and new originals. Beverage pairings are available for all tasting menus, and non-alcoholic options include house-made drinks, small-batch kombucha, coffee, and heirloom teas.
Chef Ollie was a 2024 James Beard Semifinalist for Best Chef: California, and in 2026 Hilda and Jesse earned a Michelin star. That recognition reflects the care and confidence behind every plate. The restaurant aims to be a positive, safe space for all, and that intention is woven into the atmosphere as much as the food.
