The story
Since opening in 2017, Ottoman Taverna has brought the warmth of Turkish hospitality to Washington, DC. The restaurant has consistently earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand designation—an award that recognizes high-quality food at a reasonable price—and the Michelin inspectors describe the space as “fit for a king.”
The kitchen draws on recipes that have been passed down through the family, using fresh, healthy ingredients. Diners can expect housemade kebaps, dips, hot mezzes, and desserts that taste as if they were prepared for a family table. The menu includes classics like Adana Kebap, char-grilled ground beef seasoned with red peppers and herbs, and Beyti Kebap, spicy ground beef wrapped in lavash bread with eggplant purée. Cold mezzes such as muhammara, hummus, and tzatziki showcase bright, bold flavors.
Beyond the dining room, Ottoman Taverna offers three private spaces, a full patio, and a Chef’s Table overlooking the open kitchen where wood-fire kebabs are prepared. The restaurant also provides catering for at-home events.
Weekend bottomless brunch is available, and happy hour runs daily from 3 PM to 6 PM. Whether you are stopping in for lunch, dinner, or a special celebration, Ottoman Taverna invites you to make yourself at home.
