The story
Since 2018, The Brothers Sushi has been a fixture on Ventura Boulevard, serving Japanese cuisine that draws on Chef Mark Okuda’s 25 years of experience. The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to its precise technique and quality ingredients.
The kitchen’s commitment starts with the fish. Using special “dry ager” refrigerators with controlled temperature and humidity, the team ages fish to soften texture and deepen flavor. They are also an ambassador for Ora King Salmon, a sustainable New Zealand fish. The rice, the backbone of any sushi meal, is a custom blend prepared fresh daily by experienced chefs.
The menu offers both omakase courses and à la carte options, designed to suit all generations. A Sake Sommelier is on site to guide guests through a selection that includes a popular sake flight. Lunch is served Tuesday through Friday, dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
The dining space includes a patio with a retractable roof, wall heaters, and blankets, making it usable even in light rain. Counter dining is available for those who want to watch the chefs at work. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, with an emphasis on excellent service.
The Brothers Sushi also offers takeout and hosts private events. With its Michelin recognition and dedication to seasonal, dry-aged fish, this Woodland Hills spot has become a destination for those seeking thoughtful Japanese cuisine in the San Fernando Valley.
